I'm so grateful I have received many from uncle Shawn, his are really inspiring to me and I always love at the end "NO Regrets" great modo to live by while on your mission cause it only happens once in my life... until I get old and serve with my wife ha ha.. Grandma and Grandpa your letters are so good except I can barely read your cursive Grandma. I'm a new generation and cursive is not my expertise haha... but you have given me some great advice and I'll take all the advice I can get. My mom is the best at this. She can help anyone and is willing to help anyone even if she is swamped. I love that christlike attribute she has!! My dad will do the same he has an amazing work ethic which I hope to gain so I can support my family... I'm so grateful to have all you in my life... oh I almost forgot one inportant person... uncle Eric, he has wrote me a couple times and truely has helped me and comforted me. I guess its because he is a bishop and all... right? ha ha love you..
Mom write me sometime and tell me when my new suit is done my suit now is fitting just fine and it should be great getting a gray one thanks.
Also, if you can will you send me some stickers things that have my MTC address on them like how Grandma has a billion of them.. it will just make it easier to write letters so I don't have to write my huge address...

Kelby's Christmas Letter!

Hey guys its Christmas... and they are letting us email our familys today..
So last night was Christmas Eve we had a devotional and it was really good no one talked but it was the nativity play that a bunch of missionarys put on and we all sung to it, it was really good.. very spiritual for just a play.. after the play they passed out popcorn to everyone and we got to watch the movie a Christmas Carol. We left early and just went to our residence home.. we had a huge sleep over on Christmas Eve, there where 7 of  us in my room ha ha.. we played some fun games till like 1130.. then went to bed cause we were all tired,oh and by the way i did receive your packages... it was great I got so many gifts thanks mom you really went overboard:) and Sydney went over board too ha ha  thank you guys so so much you got what i needed and more. Thank you so so much sydney, thank you so much for the Oregon hoddie its so fluffy I'm gonna die:) (dispicable me) my pillow is amazing I sleep like a little baby now hah ah and I haven't tried my toothbrush out cause its charging thanks mom:) on Christmas Eve we had to teach our teacher a basic lesson and in my lesson I was trying to say today our lession is about Christ and his atonement but instead of saying today I said bathroom and we started laughing.... so I have had some struggles in the language and its really hard to memorize everything but our teacher said me and my companion are really picking the language up fast so i am excited... oh and by the way Sydney your letters with your prefume on them are so so amazing ha ha only thing that reminds me of the real world ha ha. I told my companion I feel like Repunzel cause I can see outside life but I will never experience it in the MTC ha ha. I miss you all so much during the holidays I hope it has been a wonderful day for you all..Scooter sent me a package and a picture of goose in it, I laughed so so hard..... so I'm sure you all want to hear about Christmas and the devotional... well every single missionary in here met in the gym for sacrement and there were 2,120 of us that had sacrement together it was crazy and we were all waiting before hand to see who was coming to talk. I think that was the best gift ever when we all found out who it was speaking to us.. when ELDER BEDNAR walked in everyone had a sound of relief. His talk was so inspirational.. the main topic I picked up from it was that the natural man is the enemy of God and we all have the natural man or women inside of us, and what we need to do is to turn ourselves out like Christ does instead of turning ourselvs In like we usually do.. an example was when Christ was suffering for our sins in the Gethsemane he told three of his apostles to stay awake and they didn't.. he must have felt disappointed but not mad and then when they cut the guards ear off Christ heals him. Christs characteristics where not that he just bled out of every pore and suffered for each on of us but he was most worried about that mans ear.. not being selfish.. another is that our testimonies aren't enough to stay active but we have to be converted to Christ and our Heavenly Father his talk was so amazing... thats just a few things about it.. I will write all about it on Tuesday. Love you all and have a Merry Christmas.

                                                           Elder Crandall

Letter #2

Letter #2 was received today (we will not post this one) but...he is doing awesome. The language is hard but coming! He has a companion that doesn't feel comfortable talking much in Hmong so Kelby does most of the teaching which he thought we would all get a kick out of because he is usually so quiet. He gets a little frustrated not knowing how to express his feeling and thoughts all the time in Hmong but said he knows if he just fervently seeks help and does his part to truly learn the language Heavenly Father will help with the rest and he will be able to touch peoples hearts. He is teaching Native Hmong people as well as RMs that are fluent.
Some of the English speaking Elders in his district left this week for their areas he was extremely close to one and was sad to see him go but they intend to keep in touch while in the field.
He is happy, healthy, and loving the MTC. He also expressed gratitude for everyone that is supporting him through letters and prayers

Letter #1 12/13/2011

Hey Family,
Got the First week behind me... so relieving  but this week has been amazing my companion is from St. george his name is Elder allred.. he and i are already really close we have the same interest and quit the same personality.. he is going to sacremento hmong speeking. there are also two other elders speaking hmong, elder cox from manti is going to roseville cali hmong, Elder Snyder is from new hampshire and he also is going to roseville im the only one going to minn... thats okay though the first day we dropped my luggage off to my dorm and then went straight to class and got all my books, i walk in and boom all i hear for the next three hours is hmong I had somewhat of a understanding of him but mostly not.... then we went to the orentation and then a gospel class... the spirit is so strong here in the mtc and is so uplifting.. the crazy thing is is that they have you so dang busy that you have no time to think about home.  The third day we were here they put us in and had us teach this kid from Thailand that speaks hmong which was so crazy cause we had hardly any idea about the language and he didn't know english....the lesson it was filled with ALOT OF AKWARD SILENCE ha ha but we got through it we have taught him every day since. Me and my compainion got him to pray he belives in shamanism and has no idea what god is and jesus christ.. we taught him the steps of pray our third time teaching him and he prayed after that which was really awsome.. our next dicussion with him will be about the book of mormon.. oh and our investiagtors name is vwj voj (vue Va) he is about 20 and has lived in america for 3 months now to go to college.
The food here is pretty good not the best i have had wink wink i wished grandma was here cooking for me:) but besides that its due able the hardest part of it all is waking up and going to bed early ha ha not my style.. at the end of each day my mind is so exaughsted about 5 hours total of language study and than other times teaching and learning the gospel so its allot to take in each day. i have learned allot about myself this past week and am not that shy kid any more.. there is an elder weidner that lives right next to our room he is going to san Diago english speaking me and him have gotten really close to.. my whole zone is cool its us hmong elders and 2 vietmanese speaking elders.. they are really awesom to there form orem and ogden. than our district is big there are english speaking elders and us hmong and vietmaness speaking elders and about 15 cambodian speaking elders.. our branch president is pres. seamons form provo good guy..
i have had so many great experiences already on my mission its awsome.. i dont think i have ever prayed as much in one week than i would ever have ha ha.
we have that nurf basketball hoop in our room and its always fun to play that with the hmong elders that room with me.. and of course i always win ha ha its so funny cause everyone saw a picture of sydney and our so so jelous cause how beautiful she is and im just like well thanks... but im not home sick yet............. yet? but everything has been so great and everyone here is so nice..
Tuesdays are my P-Days so expet one every tues now...
so today on p day we went to the temple in the morning and the man that was part of the witness couple had a heart attack or his sugar was low cause he was diabetic and so they had to bring the emt in and give him oxygen it was so crazy but i think he was fine no one knows but the temple was so beautiful and pleasent kinda of nice to get away from all the missinary stuff and focus on my needs and the needs of all my family and extended family and the special pepople in my life!!

The Big Drop Off..

Dec 7th 2011
The day we said goodbye.
I was watching a YouTube video of a convert talking about missionary work and he said something that I had nerver really thought about.. he said, "Missionarys families give up a loved one for two years, so that their son/daughter can give families like mine Eternity together."
2 years may seem like a long time but in reality its not!
It was very hard for me to not be there as my family dropped him off.
I got to skype with him right before he left!
